Quick Answer
For maximum versatility, choose an assorted letterpress card set that offers multiple designs and colorways. The Summer Blooms Assorted Letterpress Card Set covers garden-themed occasions, while the Book Lovers Assorted Letterpress Cards Set works well for literary friends and everyday notes.
What to Look for in a Card Set
A good card set should offer enough design variety so you're not sending the same card twice in a row. Look for sets that include multiple motifs or colorways—this gives you flexibility for different recipients and occasions.
Paper quality and printing method matter for durability and tactile appeal. Letterpress printing from hand-carved woodblocks creates a deep impression that feels special in hand. Recycled paper content adds an eco-friendly touch without sacrificing feel.
Matching the Set to the Occasion
Think about who you typically send cards to. A floral-themed set works beautifully for thank-you notes, birthdays, and spring celebrations. A literary or book-themed set is ideal for fellow readers, teachers, or anyone who appreciates a clever motif.
If you need a single go-to set for multiple recipients, choose one with diverse designs. Sets that include two colorways per pattern give you subtle variety while keeping a cohesive look.
Decision Rules for Choosing a Card Set
- Design Variety: Choose a set with at least two distinct patterns or colorways. This lets you send different looks without buying multiple sets. Six cards with three designs (two colorways each) offer a good balance of variety and consistency.
- Occasion Fit: Floral sets work for birthdays, thank-yous, and spring holidays. Themed sets (e.g., books, animals) are better for specific interests. Match the set's theme to your most common card-sending occasions.
- Paper and Printing: Letterpress on recycled paper provides a tactile, handmade feel that stands out from mass-printed cards. It also supports eco-friendly practices. If you value texture and sustainability, prioritize letterpress and recycled materials.
